Tuesday Throwdown #332: Things With Wings

Good morning, friends! Time for another new challenge over at Tuesday Throwdown. This week we want you to feature " Things With Wings " on your projects- birds, butterflies, fairies, bees, even an aeroplane!  Our sponsor for this challenge is Our Next Stamp. Check out their online store for some delightfully adorable stamps.

I made a few favour boxes for a friend's baby shower... and yes, she's having a little girl. I'm keeping the design simple and the colours neutral. The box and scalloped trim were cut from dies by Lawn Fawn. For the background, I used LF Gingham Backdrop stamped with Ranger Archival Ink Magenta Hue. To close the box, some sheer white ribbon.

The stamped images are from a retired set by Clearly Besotted called Special Delivery. I coloured the stork with Copics and stamped the pink bundle with LF Pink Flamingo.
Challenges:
Die Cutting Diva #306: Ribbon & Bow
Crafty Sentiments #28: AG
TTCRD Feb 28: AG

Now it's your turn to create a project based on this week's theme: " Things With Wings ". For ideas and inspiration, take a peek at what the rest of the DT members have made. Remember to link up your project at the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge Blog by 3pm Pacific / 11pm UK on Monday, March 6th. And the most important requirement: Have Fun!

It's Carnival Tuesday here and that means street parties, plenty of food and tons of fun. It's also known as Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Tuesday, Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Fasching, Fettisdagen, Martedí Grasso. If you are celebrating any one of these... have fun because tomorrow is the first day of Lent! :)

Thank you so much for stopping by and have an amazing day.

Art Journal: Spring Is Near

Hello, friends! Welcome to another ART JOURNAL collaboration with a very dear and special blog friend - VICKI PARSON of Stamp Smiles. We are both passionate about art journalling and we have a monthly show and tell. Sure, it's the perfect excuse to get inky and messy but the greater purpose is to inspire and encourage each other... and have fun with it.

The inspiration for my Art Journal came from a couple of birds. I recently saw them busy (re)building their nest in our woodshed. It's an annual affair with these birds. They disappear during the winter months and reappear to start their home improvement projects. It can only mean that Spring is Near!

The stamps featured in this page is by Chocolate Baroque. The birds and the cage are from A Little Bird Told Me. The little flowers in the background are from Seasonal Fragments.

As always, I started by priming the page with Faber-Castell Gesso. Then I applied Folk Art Acrylic Paints with a brayer and dabbed it with a baby wipe; adding layers of colour until I was happy with the blend and texture. The colours I used are: 481 Aqua, 524 Calypso Sky, 634 Hot Pink and 735 Lemon Custard.

To create a border around the page I added darker colours along the edges by blending Faber-Castell Gelatos: BlueberryBoysenberry and Black Licorice.

Here's a close-up of the top half:
To add a little shimmery brightness the background, I dabbed on some Faber-Castell Gelato Metallic Icing. And then I rubbed a little Faber-Castell Gelato Gold Champagne through TWC Mini Chickenwire stencil because... well, why not?! And with that my background is ready for stamping.

First up, I stamped the birdcage from A Little Bird Told Me with Ranger Archival Ink Dandelion and coloured it in with Gold Wink Of Stella. Next, I stamped the birds directly onto the page with Ranger Archival Ink Jet Black. The letters for the sentiment are from Lawn Fawn Riley's ABC also stamped with Ranger Archival Ink Jet Black.

A close-up of the bottom half looks like this:
I stamped the little blossoms from Seasonal Fragments with Ranger Archival Ink Magenta Hue and added little dots in the middle with  Faber-Castell PITT Big Brush pen 125 Middle Purple Pink

I stamped the same birds again with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Neenah White cardstock and coloured with them Copics. Next, I cut out the bodies and adhered them to the page with Ranger Multi Medium Matte. This gave a birds added dimension. Then I coloured the rest of birds with Faber-Castell PITT Big Brush pens: tail feathers (219 Deep Scarlet Red113 Orange Glaze107 Cadmium Yellow); legs (113 Orange Glaze); and branches (175 Dark Sepia). Last bit of stamping: a sentiment from A Little Bird Told Me in Ranger Archival Ink Jet Black

Final touches: shading with Faber-Castell PITT Big Brush pen 156 Cobalt GreenClear Wink of Stella, Stardust Stickles and white highlights. (This page is no where near as bulky as my January Art Journal!)

Chocolate Baroque: Krafty Kingfisher

Hello, friends! I'm back with another project idea. This time I'm going for an intensely vintage look using an image from the Kingfisher Song A5 stamp sheet by Chocolate Baroque.

I stamped the kingfisher onto a piece of kraft cardstock using Ranger Archival Potting Soil ink and coloured the image with Faber Castell Polychromos. For that aged look, I applied Distress Inks in Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo all around the edge of the card. Finally, some Stardust Stickles and little white dots on the water to brighten things up.

The bird was joy to colour. I could not resist adding a little shimmer to his feathers with the Clear Wink of Stella. His eye is a black bling. There's a hint of Tumbled Glass Distress Ink in the sky and I added the puffy clouds with white Polychromo pencil.

ATSM #228: Holiday

Hello again, friends! Time for another challenge over at Addicted To Stamps and More. This week the theme is my favourite - Holiday.

I made a Chinese New Year card using the Lunar Lights stamps by Lawn Fawn. The year of the Rooster started on January 28th, 2017.  I paper pieced the lanterns. To stamp the glow of the lanterns I used Delicata Gold ink.

I heat embossed the greeting with WOW Rich Gold EP and finished the card with a few tiny gold bling.

MHKD February Release: Glory Of The Lord

Hello, friends! Welcome to Day 1 of MHKDesigns' February Release Party. Head on over to the MHK Designs ETSY Store for lots of lovely vintage designs that suit all crafting styles.

This month, MHKDesigns is releasing FIVE new digital stamp sets. Mynn has also added more Digital Paper Bundles that coordinate perfectly with her digi stamps. These are available for purchase NOW at the MHK Designs ETSY Store.

As a special treat to celebrate the February 2017 Release, Mynn is giving away sets from this release. More on how to win at the end of this post.

Today we have this floral beauty called Glory Of The Lord.

I wanted to keep this card as CAS as possible... which for me is not easy. The urge to fuss and fiddle is too great, but I persevered and produced this:

I coloured the morning glory with Copics, added some Stardust Stickles, a few sequins and finished the card with sheer green ribbon. Suddenly, it doesn't sound so CAS, does it?!

Chocolate Baroque: Heartfelt Thanks

Good morning, friends! I've been playing with 2 new A6 stamp sheets by Chocolate Baroque called Baroque Meadow and Words To Dazzle and Sparkle.

These new stamps were introduced on Hochanda last week and are exclusive for purchase through Hochanda for a few more days but they'll soon be available at Chocolate Baroque online store.

I made a thank you card featuring the images from Baroque Meadow and a sentiment from Words To Dazzle and Sparkle.

As started by masking off the moon with a circle die-cut before inking up the background with Distress Inks: Chipped Sapphire, Abandoned Coral, Worn Lipstick, Frayed Burlap and Vintage Photo. Instead of stamping the silhouette image in black as I usually do, I went with Archival Ink Olive to contrast the moody background.

And to brighten the scene, I added white and glossy accent dots. I love the detail on the grassy silhouette image and it's so versatile too.
Challenges:
HeARTful Stamping Feb 5: For Someone Special + Rubber Stamp
Lil Patch Of Crafty Friends #51: AG
Gem Of A Challenge #187: Add A Butterfly

That's all from me today. The weather is being extremely uncooperative lately. There's some sort of storm brewing in the high seas and it's bringing frightfully HUGE waves. Last week it was a battle with ice and hailstorm. What surprise awaits us next week, I wonder! Stay safe and warm, friends!

Chocolate Baroque Colour Challenge #31

Welcome to Week 3 of Chocolate Baroque Colour Challenge #31. We have a pretty colour swatch for you to use in your projects. If you haven't played yet, now's the time to do so.

You can use any medium to create your projects: paints, inks, pencils, pens, stains, etc., as long as you stick to the colours from the colour swatch, using as much or as little of each colour as you wish. You don't have to use Chocolate Baroque stamps to play along but if you do you will be entered into a random draw to win £15 to spend on Chocolate Baroque stamps. All participants will have a chance to be on the Design Team's Top Three list and proudly display the winner's badge on their blog.

Since it's February, why not start the month with a sweet, romantic card. Inspired by the watercolour background in the colour swatch, I created a card featuring the rose and sentiment from the Rose Stem Script A6 stamp sheet. I heat embossed the Big Bold Leafy Background using WOW Brilliant White EP directly onto an A2 card. Then I inked it up with Bundled Sage Distress Ink.

I inked up a piece of watercolour paper with Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar Distress Inks, sprinkled some water and dabbed off the excess. Then I stamped the rose script image using Ranger Cool Graphite Dye Ink. I stamped another set of leaves with Ranger Olive Archival Ink and the flower in Ranger Raspberry Sorbet Dye Ink on watercolour paper, and used Distress Inks to colour them. Then I fussy cut the leaves and the flower before adhering them to the main image. To finish the card, a few sequins and blobs of Ranger Glossy Accent.
Challenges:
Crafting By Designs February: AG
Crafty Creations #334: AG
Inspiration Destination #121: AG

Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a sweet day... and don't forget to take time to smell the roses!
