Beautiful Day

Helloo, friends! Hope you're enjoying the weekend. It's been a hectic week for me. Here's a card I made last weekend for a friend's birthday but did get around to blogging it. Truth be told, I didn't manage mail it in time for her birthday either! Ooops ... big time, I know!

I've used Altenew's Beautiful Day stamp set for this card. To stamp the flowers and leaves I used Lawn Fawn inks. I wanted a soft background, decided a light Cracked Pistachio background.

I added some shimmer to the flower with Wink Of Stella Clear Glitter and randomly dropped a few blobs of Opal White Liquid Pearls.
Challenges:
Altenew September Challenge: Photo Inspiration
Seize The Birthday: Soft and Simple
Altenew Ultimate Blog Hop

That's all from me today. Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend, friends!

Chocolate Baroque: He Rides The Tide

Hello again! I'm back with an Art Journal page for Chocolate Baroque's month-long Texture fest. This project features 2 stamp sets by Chocolate Baroque: Underwater and Texture Fragments.

I started by prepping the page with Faber Castell Gesso and let dry completely. With a wet wipe, I applied Folk Art Acrylic Paints to create the background.
  • Deep sea: Midnight, Brilliant Ultramarine, True Blue, Evergreen, Fresh Foliage, Licorice;
  • Seabed: Lemon Custard, School Bus Yellow, Terra Cotta
The shades of blues and greens with a little black to add depth to the sea while shades of yellow for the seabed helps brighten things up.  To create movement in the background, I used a stamp from the Texture Fragments A4 sheet with Hydrangea Archival Ink.

And not forgetting the theme for the month - Texture, I added bubbles with Ranger Texture Paste applied with MFT Snowfall stencil.  And finally, little splashes of gesso to finish the project.

The sea elements are from the Underwater A5 sheet. I stamped the seaweed directly to the background with Fern Green and Jet Black Archival Inks.

I stamped the shells with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured them with Graph'It alcohol markers before fussy cutting and adhering them to the page with Ranger Multi Medium Matte. I used soft pinks and flesh tones for these sea creatures to maintain the right balance and contrast with the background. And to make them pop, I added some shading with Dark Sepia Faber Castell PITT Brush marker.

Since the seahorse is the star of the show, to make stand him out I heat embossed him with WOW Ebony EP and added a touch of colour with Graph'It alcohol markers. The quote is put together with letter die cut with WRMK Parade. It's not so obvious in the photo below but I subtle shading with Faber Castell Cobalt Blue PITT Brush marker on each letter to knock back the white.
Challenge:
Retro Rubber Stamp #47: AG + Old Stamp (Underwater - 3 years old)
TTCRD Sept 13: AG
Simon Says Stamp Monday: At The Movies (20,000 Leagues Under The Sea)

I hope you are inspired by this project to get messy and inky. I had something quite different in mind when I started it. But after a few detours, I am quite pleased with this happy "accident".

Thank you for stopping by and have a beautiful day.

Tuesday Throwdown #311: Sketch

Good morning, friends! Time for a new challenge over at Tuesday Throwdown and we have a Sketch for you. You can rotate or flip the sketch and interpret it your way but make sure that the key elements of the sketch is obvious.

Our sponsor is Lacy Sunshine  and I picked this groovy girl called Lizabeth Wild Daisies for my card. Everything about her screams the 70s so I used bright and fun patterned papers from my stash in keeping with the hippy vibe of this project.

I coloured Lizabeth Wild Daisies with Faber Castell Polychromos and added the grass with Copics.
Challenges:
TTCRD Sept 13: AG
Artistic Inspiration #163: AG

Now it's your turn to create a project based on this week's Sketch. For ideas and inspiration, take a peek at what the rest of the DT members have made. Remember to link up your project at the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge Blog by 3pm Pacific / 11pm UK on Monday, September 19th. And the most important requirement: Have Fun!

Thank you so much for stopping by and have a beautiful day, friends!

Fall Treats

Hello, there! I'm back with another tag for my Guest post over at Tag You're It. The inspiration tag this fortnight is by Melissa Bickford and I made a fall version of her sweet floral tag. Using stamps from Lawn Fawn Critters In Costume, I replaced Melissa's flowers with cand corn, sweets and falling leaves.

Here's a closer look. The letters are die cut with WRMK Parade dies. The broom is also from Lawn Fawn Critters In Costume while the strip of paper is from LF Perfectly Plaid Fall.
Challenges:
Fan & Funky #317: Fall Colours
Really Reasonable Ribbon #148: Fall Colours with Ribbon / Trim

***************

And speaking of Lawn Fawn, here's a card I made for Lawnscaping Challenge #137. The theme calls for the use of texture. So I did some dry embossing, heat embossing and slapped on texture paste to create a Halloween inspired card.

I used Distress Inks in Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, Abandoned Coral and Worn Lipstick for the night sky. I used the new LF Howloween set for this card.

The fairy is from LF Fairy Friends set. Her witchy hat is from LF Howloween and the pumpkin basket from LF Holiday Party Animal is just the perfect size for her.
Challenges:
Lawnscaping #137: Texture-fied
Little Red Wagon #358: Fur-ever Friends
Cute Card Thursday #442: Animals or Creatures

That's all from me today. The weekend is almost upon us - can't say I'm complaining! Thank you for stopping by and have a grand day!
